It's Monday. What are you reading? 01 August 2011

It's Monday. What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey to outline what you have been reading and what you plan to read this week.

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace... One School at a TimeI have just finished reading Three Cups of Tea (Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin). I had planned to have my review up in time for this Monday post but after starting to write about the controversy surrounding this book I found myself enthralled and have already spent far too many hours reading information online. So I really wanted to do this review justice and therefore have given myself a little extra time to gather my thoughts together. I hope to have the review up within the next couple of days so keep an eye out for it.

Update: I have just posted my review if you want to check it out.

Jane EyreNext up is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte as the next book for my 100 book challenge. And I have book club tomorrow night so no doubt I'll have some great new books to show off from that!

The HelpUpdate: After book club last night I have finally got my hands on a copy of the The Help. So I have started reading that first because I just can't help myself :)

  1. Rachel the book club is that an online one?

  2. No. Just one that my friends and I run once a month. But it's different to most book clubs as it's more a book sharing club. A group of friends get together once a month (with a couple bottles of wine!) and we review and share books amongst ourselves. Books here are expensive so it's a great way to reduce our reading costs and also to try out books you might not normally pick up off the shelf :)

  4. You'll be the first person I "know" to read this book post controversy so I am really looking forward to seeing what you think!

  5. I was so sad to hear about the controversy with Three Cups of Tea. I was all set to do a lesson with my students using that book. I may still do it....

  7. I like Jane Eyre. I might need a re-read of it. I was curious how many books I've read each month. So I made a graph for this week's What Are You Reading. Please stop by to see it and what I've read.

  8. I read Three Cuos Of tea years ago, long before all the junk came out about the author... I liked what he did (at least then) but found the writing a bit "look at me".

    Have a great week!

  9. I saw that your review revealed many plot lines so decided not to read it because I will read the book myself (eventually). I love it though when you get that excited about a book you have to research it further. Non fiction and historical fiction tend to have that effect on me.

    Hope you enjoy Jane Eyre.
